On its quest to consume, the snake must continuously feed on larger and larger prey to keep itself sated. First it may eat a mouse, but once a mouse is too small to sustain it, it will begin hunting rats, and once even that is too small for its appetite, it may switch to rabbits.
This climb must continue, as the only way for the snake to keep itself powerful is to continue consuming. But at some point nothing will be left. Having consumed even the means of creation, the snake will begin to starve.
